A bizarre Ceratosaurian from the Middle Jurassic of Niger, Spinostropheus was attributed as a species of Elaphrosaurus for a long time, and seems very well related to it as an Elaphrosaurine Noasaurid. Elaphrosaurs like Spinostropheus were omnivorous or herbivorous theropods with lithe, almost ornithomimid-like bodies built for speed and agility. Spinostropheus was a sizeable member, growing possibly upwards of 8.5 meters (28 feet) in length as a full grown adult, although a more reasonable 6 meters (19-20 feet) is used in the reconstruction here.
